  • Learning B: On blank notes sheet, we looked at 7 posters with pictures of child labor on them.  
    • For each, we answered these questions:
      • What was the job description?
      • What in the description itself was difficult?
      • Based on the picture only, what other conclusions can you come up with in regards to the working conditions?

  • Finished Learning Activity A: Rise of Big Business Notes
  • Practice: Limerick Competion
    • Get into groups of four
    • Write a limerick about the Notes
    • Winning group is the one that included the most pieces information from the notes!!
  • Learning Activity B: Using a blank notes sheet, view the Owner and Worker Comparison.  Tomorrow we will write down the answer to the question: Why does the Rise of Big Business fit into Mark Twain's accusation of this era being a Gilded one?

    • She talks fast, so don't worry about pausing it periodically...we did as a class
    • We also watched it twice.  Check with your classmates for answers!
  • Learning C: Ranching, Mining & Farming worksheet
    • Use your textbook... you only have to do one of the three types of jobs & then you can copy the other two types from a classmate
    • We will finish this next class day.

  • Learning A: Many did not complete this yesterday.  We worked on this for about 1/2 the time in class
  • Practice: Create rhyming sentences that help show you know each of the 10 vocabulary terms in the reading 
    • Example: 
From the Army, Chief Joseph ran away
Gave in to live another day 


  • Learning B: Got into groups of 3 and jigsawed Learning B Worksheet.  We only did this for about 15 minutes, so we will complete this tomorrow
We went to the library to do the following things:
  • Log on to your student Gmail account
  • Go to my website **I emailed it to you**
  • Log on to the online textbook **I gave the username & password to you today**
  • Many could not get online b/c of a computer problem, so we'll complete this another day.
